Former Scottish midfielder Barry Ferguson has warned Rangers on how Joe Aribo will attract interest in England.
Aribo has started each of the 12 games he has played for Gers so far this season and has a goal contribution and an assist to his name.
As Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos continue to receive attention on Steven Gerrard’s team, Ferguson, who played two seasons for the Rangers, credited the Super Eagles star for his work in the middle of the park.
The former interim Blackpool manager even warned the Gers about the interest of England clubs in the transfer.
“I feel like Joe Aribo is getting better and better with every game I watch,” said Ferguson, via Football Fancast.
“A lot of people talk about Ryan Kent and [Alfredo] Morelos.
“I think Aribo is a player that many clubs in the south will watch closely.”
A few weeks ago, Aston Villa center-back Ezri Konsa compared Aribo, with whom he played for Charlton Athletic, to African legend Yaya Touré.
“Having Gerrard as his manager at Rangers has made him level up,” Konsa told the Daily Record.
“Joe’s style is unique. When I was with him at Charlton, he reminded me for a while of a left-handed Yaya Touré. But there are not many midfielders like Joe, there are not many out there.
“Like Toure, for a tall guy, he has such good feet. But that languid style that he has is quite unique to the game.
“It took him a long time to open up and start talking to everyone else. But we knew that he had great ability. I remember when I was there I thought it was only a matter of time before he broke into Charlton’s first team.
“The things he did in a field were sometimes unreal. It was as if he was still playing street football. So we knew he would go far in the game. “
