Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman has undergone heart surgery.
The French international has had a minor operation after the discovery of an irregularity and will now spend 10 days to two weeks recovering.
Coman, who had previously been a target for Manchester United, came on as a late substitute in a 3-0 Champions League win over Barcelona on Tuesday night.
Head coach Julian Nagelsmann said: “I had a slightly irregular heartbeat, a slight heart irregularity. We did a long-term ECG and we performed this operation.”
“He is doing very well and has little wound pain. Once the wound has healed, he will be able to begin rehab training and it will not be more than 10 days to two weeks before he returns to full training.”
The 25-year-old will miss Bayern’s upcoming games against Bochum and Furth in the Bundesliga and possibly the next Champions League group stage game at home to Dynamo Kiev.
Coman has been on the list for United, and many other elite clubs, as they have looked for new forwards, leading to the signings of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.
Coman has made more than 200 appearances for Bayern since he joined Juventus in 2015, scoring 41 goals and scoring 50 more.
