Newcastle Knights center Enari Tuala has renewed his contract for a further two years, keeping him at the club at least until the end of the NRL’s 2023 season.

The 23-year-old joined the club in early 2020 and was Newcastle’s top scorer in both seasons.

Tuala played all 25 games for the Knights in 2021 and crossed for 13 tries, and has the ability to cover both winger and center equally.

Knights recruiting chief Clint Zammit believes Tuala’s improvement will only continue during this new deal.

“Enari worked hard on the things he needed to change, he played in every game for the Knights in 2021, resulting in a better career season,” said Zammit.

“The extension of him adds real depth to our outside full backs, covering both the winger and the center.
If he continues to work hard, especially in the pre-season, we believe that his game can improve further in 2022 “.

Tuala is unlikely to find himself in the centers next year, with young gun Bradman Best and new recruit Dane Gagai expected to take on those roles, but he has a good chance of keeping a spot on the wing.
